He was recruited to make a number of custom furniture pieces for friends. The company prospered, but in a way that left little time for home activities and travel. Then, after the purchase of a new sports car, QI took a different turn. Mary and he fell in love with their new 1991 Red "A" Miata named "KNOBzilla". They became active with the local Miata Club and enjoyed the life style of a 'Peak to Peak' club member. On one of the clubs runs, a member saw Joe's custom laser engraved gearshift knob and requested one of his own! "Knobmeister" division was born! Then another knob was made for another member. Then another, an on it went! People from other clubs found out that he could customize their gearshift knobs as well as make new ones from scratch. Name badges for clubs then followed! 2010 Corvette Raffle Car
The Grand Valley Corvette Association will bring their 2010 Corvette Raffle Car to the Sports Car Show Extravaganza. Each year they raffle a new Corvette to benefit The Down Syndrome and Spina Bifida Associations of West Michigan. The Kalamazoo Miata Club is pleased to support the Grand Valley Corvette Association and their community involvement.

Why here? Why now?
The Plan?Duane & Bob are reaching into their wallets to pull out a realistic amount of funds, to serve as the seed money with which to hold a car show event they have always wanted to attend. This car show will be organized and implemented using (old and new) friends and family members.
We have invited car clubs throughout the Great Lakes Region to attend, with the hopes that we will see new sports cars, vintage sports cars, and unique cars and their owners/drivers. We hope to give these Sports Car drivers the opportunity to truly live the reason that they own a sports car.
Our Dream is to assemble the ingredients that will lend to a paradigm shift for car shows in Michigan and The Midwest.

SHOW EXTRAVAGANZA on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the US131 Motorsports
Park in Martin, MI. YES there really is a Kalamazoo!!! Come to the
Great Lakes - Great State and enjoy a day of fun and excitement with
your sports car and friends.
The Miatas & More Car Show has grown up. This will be more than
a
car show - we are planning a true sports car event for West Michigan.
We are sending invitations to every Miata Club in North America and to
every sports car club within a radius of 150 miles of Kalamazoo. Based
on initial inquires - there is significant interest, excitement, and
desire within the sports car community to participate in a great sports
car event this spring.
In addition to a traditional car show; there will be racing, sports car
related vendors and suppliers, and a sports car corral; but they have
just started cooking. Plans are evolving - you never know what Duane,
Bob, and US131 may
put into this sports car pot to add to the enjoyment, flavor, fun, and
ambiance of the Kalamazoo Miata Club 2010 SPORTS CAR EXTRAVAGANZA.
Regardless of the ingredients, they are committed to a well thought,
planned, and organized event. The objective is to have an enjoyable day
of fun with our sports cars and the people who drive them. Stay tuned
for updates!!!
